Bailey, PhD, RD, MPH is a Professor of Nutrition Science and Director of the Nutrition Assessment Center at Purdue University, IN.  She is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and the USDA/HHS 2020 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee.  Her expertise is in nutrition epidemiology, dietary assessment, dietary supplements, NHANES, and public health. 

David Klurfeld, PhD is recently retired as the National Program Leader in Human Nutrition at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Beltsville, MD. He was an Associate Editor for AJCN for twelve years.  His expertise is in dietary fiber, breast and colon cancer, macronutrients, fats and fatty acids, and atherosclerosis.

Gordon Howarth, PhD is a Professor and Associate Head (Research) of the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences at the University of Adelaide, Australia.  He has been an Editorial Board member of JN for twelve years. His expertise is in gastrointestinal diseases, prebiotics, probiotics, nutraceuticals, microbiome, and animal models.

Rene′ Jacobs, PhD from the Department of Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Sciences, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.  His expertise is in nutrigenomics, obesity, choline, folate, lipids, liver disease, one-carbon metabolism, insulin resistance, folate, and creatine.

Sharon Kirkpatrick, PhD, RD in the School of Public Health and Health Systems, University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.  Her expertise is in food security, dietary patterns, dietary reference intakes, food-based guidelines, dietary assessment, validation studies, surveillance, food policy, public health, equity, and environment. 

Heather Leidy, PhD in the Department of Nutrition Sciences and Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas, Austin, Texas.  Her expertise is in satiety, ingestive behavior, eating frequency, weight management, snacking, food cravings, appetite control, protein quality, and metabolism.

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition Editor-in-Chief, Christopher P. Duggan, MD, MPH, is pleased to welcome the following individuals as Editorial Board Members for AJCN.

Lydia A. Bazzano, MD, PhD, MPH is the Lynda B. and H. Leighton Steward Professor in Nutrition Research and Director of the Center for Lifespan Epidemiology Research at the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, New Orlean, LA, USA.  Dr. Bazzano is a member of the 2020 dietary guidelines committee and is a well-recognized authority in epidemiology, cardiovascular diseases, and life-course nutrition.

Jennie Brand-Miller, PhD holds a Personal Chair in Human Nutrition in the Charles Perkins Centre and School of Life and Environmental Sciences at the University of Sydney in Sydney, Australia. She is recognized for her work on carbohydrates in health and disease, particularly the application of the glycemic index of foods to diabetes and obesity.

Baukje de Roos, MSc, PhD is Deputy Director of the Rowett Institute, University of Aberdeen, Scotland, UK. She is an internationally recognized nutrition scientist with over 25 years of expertise in clinical and dietary intervention trials to assess how diets, foods and nutrients affect disease risk and resilience to disease development.  Her areas of expertise are precision/personalized nutrition, nutrition biomarkers and sustainable food systems.

T. Alp Ikizler, M.D. is the Catherine McLaughlin Hakim Chair in Vascular Biology and Professor of Medicine as well as Chief, Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN, USA.  In addition to his expertise in renal disease, Dr. Ikizler has published widely in the fields of macronutrient metabolism (with emphasis on protein turnover), nutrition support, and nutrition assessment/body composition.

Michael Müller, PhD is Professor of Nutrigenomics and Systems Nutrition at Norwich Medical School, University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK.  He is a renowned expert in the area of molecular nutrition related to lipid homeostasis, nutrigenomics and nutritional systems biology and his work is focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying genome-wide effects of foods (specific bioactive components or nutrients) on immuno-metabolic health and plasticity of the gut-liver axis.

Martha Mwangome, PhD is a Research Scientist at the Kenya Medical Research Institute/Wellcome Trust Research Programme based in Kilifi, Kenya.  She has an extensive career in public health nutrition and has expertise in the following areas: Nutritional assessment, diagnosis and management of childhood undernutrition; Human milk and infant health and lactation support.

Elizabeth Parks, PhD is Maxine Seabaugh Schade Faculty Scholar and Professor in the Department of Nutrition and Exercise Physiology, and Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, University of Missouri as well as incoming president of The Obesity Society. A former member of the ASN Publication Management Committee, her research areas of expertise are metabolism, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, and sensory aspects of food intake.
