Award Information
This award provides a one-time $15,000 grant to an American Society for Nutrition (ASN) early career member (within 10 years of receiving a terminal degree) proposing scientific research that advances the understanding of dairy’s role in health and wellness. This can be for original research or used to complement or complete a current research project. Eligible recipients must conduct mechanistic, epidemiological, clinical, and/or translational research targeting the health effects of dairy and/or its contributions to a healthy eating pattern.
This research funding award is supported by Dairy Management Inc. on behalf of National Dairy Council (NDC), which supports the award in response to NDC’s commitment towards supporting the professional development of early career investigators. There are no geographic restrictions, and awardees may come from academia, public service, or the NGO or private sector. No indirect costs are allowed.
Eligibility
- Be an active ASN member
- Be an early career investigator within 10 years of terminal degree
- Have demonstrated an interest in mechanistic, epidemiological, clinical, and/or translational research targeting the health effects of dairy and/or its contributions to a healthy eating pattern

Statement: Statement written for a scientific audience, explaining the contribution of the proposed research to knowledge in nutrition. Summary: Summary of your proposed research project including objective experimental approach, and selected references. Up to 4 files total including tables, images and/or graphs can be included to supplement the Summary. Tables (uploaded as pdf files), images and/or graphs (uploaded as image files in .jpg, .png, .gif or .bmp format) will appear separate from and following the Summary text. {14,000 character limit without spaces, approximately four single-spaced typewritten pages). NOTE: The Statement and Summary are entered into two separate text field boxes on the submission website – i.e., there is one text field box for the Statement. There is a separate text field box for the Summary. This allows the listed character limit to be strictly enforced by the system for all applications.
