ASN NutriLink is an online community where members of the American Society for Nutrition can connect with each other, collaborate on ideas, and engage in meaningful conversations in a safe and interactive environment.
The goals are to bring the nutrition science community together, to enhance the ASN membership experience through improved communications, and to build lasting relationships among like-minded peers, which will ultimately contribute to the advancement of nutrition science.
ASN members will have the opportunity to post conversation topics and respond to previous posts. Discussion topics can range from questions about ASN membership to interesting nutrition-related news articles to requesting guidance/expertise on specific research
This is a database of documents, hyperlinks, videos, infographics, etc. that members have shared with the group. These resources can be of interest to a broad or specific range of ASN members. ASN NutriLink users can search through the list of entries to find what they need, or they can type keywords into the search bar and view the related results.
This program will match mentors with mentees (people who are looking for mentors). ASN Members who are seeking to be either a mentor or mentee, or would like to be both, can create a mentorship profile within ASN MentorLink. Matches are made based on certain criteria, such as career stage, research interests, workplace type, and preferred communication method.
Members can search for one another by name, email, company, location, workplace type and more. Whether you are checking to see if someone you know is an ASN member or you are looking for someone to contact who fits certain criteria, the member directory will be a useful tool. Members who do not wish to be searchable may also opt out of the directory.
ASN NutriLink will house many different types of communities.
There is one main community to which all members will be automatically subscribed, and any general ASN content should be posted here.
There will also be separate communities for ASN Councils, RIS and committees. These communities will be geared towards members with specific interests, and will be a common space to share meeting information, Council/RIS/Committee activity updates, and other items of interest to the specific group.
Provide an active voice
We will be giving a voice to members with which they can communicate easily with colleagues and ASN staff.
Empasize ASN leadership
ASN NutriLink provides a platform for members who wish to become more involved in ASN.
Potential leaders have the opportunity to show their initiative by posting more, answering questions and making more connections. Separate communities for RIS and Councils will also emphasize the diversity of our members and the wealth of different conversations.
Have stronger interactions
The ability to communicate will be stronger than before.
There is no longer a need to rely on email or talking in person at conferences – members can talk on their own schedules and with any device. Members will hopefully also feel safe contributing to conversations knowing that there will be a moderator to prevent or take down any inappropriate posts.
Access to powerful resources
ASN NutriLink will be a unique ASN-vetted knowledge base filled with discussion posts and resource library entries.
Members will be able to search for information that their peers have shared and potentially have access to novel information that they otherwise would not have had.
