Scholarship for Individuals from Underrepresented Groups

ASN is committed to supporting the advancement of individuals from underrepresented groups in the field of nutrition and encourages engagement through participation in its education and professional development programs, including its annual flagship meeting, NUTRITION 2025.
If you are researcher, academic, clinician, scientist or investigator in the field of nutrition science from an underrepresented group, you may be eligible for a scholarship to attend NUTRITION 2025.
This scholarship is open to ASN members and non-members. Applicants should consider the scholarship criteria before applying.
Please note that applications will be reviewed by ASN Staff. All information entered is confidential and will not be shared. For consideration, please complete and submit an application by February 19, 2025. Award recipients will be announced no later than February 28, 2025.
Scholarship for Individuals from Underrepresented Groups Application
Scholarship Criteria:
Be a member of a nationally underrepresented group in biomedical, clinical, behavioral, and social sciences (Women, individuals with disabilities, individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, and individuals from the following racial and ethnic categories: American Indian or Alaska Native, Black or African American, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, Hispanic or Latino.)
Be interested in membership in the American Society for Nutrition
Also, scholarship recipients must attend the following events programmed at NUTRITION 2025:
- Plenary Session – Saturday, May 31 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM
- IDEA SESSION – date and time TBD
- Speed Networking – date and time TBD
The Demographic Questions include:
Questions about your age range, gender identity, race and ethnicity, sexual identity, ability status, and preferred pronouns. All demographic questions include a “prefer not to disclose” option, allowing you to opt out of any question.

Demographic data on your preferences and attributes allow us to better serve you with relevant programs and services, establish key benchmarks and goals for inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility; and to support the development of future programs, resources, advocacy, and fundraising initiatives that foster representation, advancement, and engagement.
