Deep Dives in Nutrition Science

Deep Dives will convene communities of researchers for scientific exchange on emerging or timely topics in nutrition science. Programs will be designed to be interactive and include activities such as scientific presentations, live Q&A, small group discussions, and networking opportunities.

ASN’s GEMS (Groups Engaging Members – interest sections, councils) are encouraged to consider planning a Deep Dive to engage their members on a topic of interest.

Deep Dives will:

Be shaped by scientists who commit to a productive scientific exchange.
Offer opportunities for ASN members to lead the development of a scientific event
Ensure participation of a diverse faculty (gender, career stage, underrepresented groups)
Live events, in particular: Include activities specifically targeted to trainees (graduate students, postdoctoral fellows) such as “Meet the Expert” activities, opportunities for trainees to present research.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Agreement:
If chosen, I commit to working with ASN staff to:
- Recruit a diverse faculty
- Assist with the recruitment of young investigators and individuals from underrepresented groups to participate in the event
- Promote the event via social media, newsletters, listservs and through other organizations
- Facilitate a call for papers on the topic for publication in the ASN journal portfolio
- Include activities for young investigators such as meet the expert events, breakout sessions and other interactive activities.
- Secure funding, in particular, for live events.
