About

The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN, based in Washington, D.C., is the leading trade association of the dietary supplement and functional food industry. ), Founded in 1973, CRN celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023.

CRN represents more than 200 companies that manufacture dietary ingredients and/or dietary supplements, or supply services to those suppliers and manufacturers. CRN member companies comply with federal and state regulations governing dietary supplements in the areas of manufacturing, marketing, quality control and safety. CRN supplier and manufacturer member companies also agree to adhere to additional voluntary guidelines as well as to CRN’s Code of Ethics.

Regulatory Insights and Expertise
CRN can provide top-level regulatory information related to dietary supplements and functional food through information on our website, other external communications (e.g., publications, educational programming), and direct contact with staff. For more detailed queries, we can help connect ASN members with the appropriate experts.

Upcoming Events
CRN has sponsored several satellite sessions at ASN's annual meeting and looks forward to future opportunities. The association regularly hosts educational webinars, some of which are open to non-members and would be of benefit to ASN members. CRN also holds in-person events, including an annual day-long scientific symposium, Science in Session, and business conference. CRN has partnered with the ASN Foundation on the CRN ASN Foundation Program for Scholars (CAPS), awarding ASN student members registration to its science symposium.
