Esteemed leaders bring global perspectives and deep scientific expertise to advance nutrition research, education, and practice.
Rockville, MD (January 27, 2026) – The ASN Foundation today announced the appointment of three distinguished leaders to its Board of Trustees: Arne Astrup, MD, DMSc; Catherine Field, PhD; and Ratna Mukherjea, PhD. Their collective experience in research, academia, and innovation will strengthen the Foundation’s work to advance nutrition science and support the next generation of researchers.
Joining the Board are:
- Arne Astrup, MD, DMSc, Independent Consultant and Professor, University of Copenhagen, internationally recognized for groundbreaking research and scientific interests in appetite regulation, treatment of obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.
- Catherine Field, PhD, FCAHS, FCNS-SC, Professor Emeritus, University of Alberta, whose internationally respected research explores the relationship between nutrition and the immune system.
- Ratna Mukherjea, PhD, Global R&D Leader for ICL Food Specialties, recognized for driving nutrition and food innovation at the intersection of product development and evidence-based nutrition.

The ASN Foundation Board of Trustees oversees strategic priorities and stewardship of donor investments, advancing research, scholarships, fellowships, scientific awards, and initiatives that empower nutrition scientists across all career stages.
