Intersections Between Nutrition Research and Nutrition Science Policy: Real World Experiences Past and Present

Tuesday, April 6, 2021
1:00 – 2:30 PM EST

*CPE AVAILABLE

This webinar was designed to help ASN members better understand the interface between research and nutrition science policy. Many ASN members conduct research that is useful for determining science policy. This webinar will describe how research and the evidence base is considered when setting nutrition science policy, as well as a basis for what nutrition science policy is. Presentations will provide actual examples of a policy outcome while highlighting how it came into being using nutrition research, one a past experience, food fortification policy and health claim, and the other a more recent experience related to the outcome of legislation and program standards in the Healthy Hunger-free Kids Act. This webinar will provide examples of when nutrition research has been used to set nutrition science policy and made a difference.
